About Michael Luzzio:

Born in the coastal town of Mystic, Connecticut, my journey into photography began as a quiet exploration of the world’s subtle complexities. My work spans documentary, street, and portrait photography, each image a deliberate blend of reality and a touch of the surreal—a visual narrative that invites contemplation.

Photography, to me, is an art form that transcends mere documentation. It’s about distilling the essence of a moment, capturing not just what is seen, but what is felt. My images are crafted to tell stories that linger, evoking emotions that resonate long after the shutter closes. I find beauty in the fleeting and the overlooked, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary through my lens.

As an artist, I strive to create visual poetry, where every photograph is a verse in a larger narrative. My work is a testament to the power of imagery to connect us to the deeper truths of our shared experience, always seeking to challenge, provoke, and inspire.

People ask, why do I shoot film?

- I know film is not practical, it is not timely, nor does it outperform digital cameras at the full frame (35mm) size—but for me, film is an experience, a deliberate choice to embrace the imperfections, the tactile nature of the process, and the anticipation of the unseen. It’s about slowing down, savoring the moment, and capturing the essence of a scene in a way that feels authentic and deeply connected to the artistry of photography.
